Wills and Estates
Effective March 31, 2014, the Wills, Estates and Succession Act (WESA) came into effect modernizing estate law in BC. The act provides greater certainty for individuals who put their last wishes into writing and simplifies the process for those responsible for distributing an estate.
It is important to have a Will
No matter the value of your assets, you have the right to decide who will manage your estate after your death, who will take care of your children and how your assets will be distributed. Without your Will, these very important decisions will be made by the government.
Wills Preparation
Our office can help you to prepare a will where you can outline your wishes for the distribution of assets, guardianship of minor children, and the designation of an Executor who takes care of administering the estate.
Wills Searches
A Wills Search can be a required component of the Wills Probate process within the Province of British Columbia. We can help you to file a Wills Notice with the Vital Statistics Agency indicating the location of your will, which can help your executor in the future.
